Somerville family seeks justice for slain loved one

Posted: Updated:

SOMERVILLE (FOX 25 / MyFoxBoston.com) – A Somerville family is doing everything within their power to solve the murder of Christopher Souza.

Souza, then 24, was murdered on November 23, 2009 at the Mystic Housing Project in Somerville where he had lived his entire life.

Souza's family told FOX 25's Bob Ward that Christopher had many friends, but was quiet and still trying to find his way in life.

On the night he was murdered, Christopher was last seen alive playing video games in the living room.  His mother made the gruesome discovery the next morning. She found him on the living room floor with a ligature wrapped around his neck.

The family is organizing a fundraiser at Trump Field in Somerville on Saturday in hopes of drawing attention to the cold case.

The money raised will be put towards a reward.  The family is hoping that a reward might compel someone with information to talk to police and finally get a killer off the streets.
