It's projected that 31 million people in the United States can qualify for gastric bypass surgery. Just ten years ago, this surgery was new and little was known about its long-term health benefits.
A new study by the Journal of the American Medical Association examined whether these benefits including sustained weight-loss, lower cardiovascular and diabetes risks continued six years after having the operation.
Conclusion Among severely obese patients, compared with nonsurgical control patients, the use of RYGB surgery was associated with higher rates of diabetes remission and lower risk of cardiovascular and other health outcomes over 6 years. READ THE FULL STUDY>>
