RI man faces upgraded charge in Attleboro crash

Posted: Updated:

ATTLEBORO (AP) - Police have upgraded charges against a Rhode Island man they allege was driving drunk when he caused a head-on crash that killed a North Attleborough woman.

Attleboro police say 32-year-old Jason Kwolek of Pawtucket, R.I., is now being charged with manslaughter in addition to drunken driving and motor vehicle homicide.

Witnesses told investigators that Kwolek was speeding and driving erratically in the moments before he allegedly caused a crash on Route 152 last Thursday with a car driven by 24-year-old Kaisha Lynn Guerrini. Guerrini, the mother of a 3-year-old son and an active member of the Army National Guard, died hours later.

Kwolek, who was also injured, faces arraignment Tuesday.

Kwolek's lawyer tells The Sun Chronicle (http://bit.ly/QRPm8f ) that his client "feels horrible," and has no criminal record.
