Boston Fashion Week begins Thursday and it's all about celebrating and supporting local talent!
Three designers being featured this year stopped by the FOX 25 Morning News Wednesday to talk about their inspiration and how they started their businesses.
About Boston Fashion Week
Boston Fashion Week was founded in 1995. The force behind the week has been dedicated to creating opportunities that increase the viability and visibility of the local industry. The series of fashion related events throughout Greater Boston and beyond serves as a platform for both established industry professionals and aspiring newcomers to showcase their work as well as network with peers and the public. This annual celebration of Boston style featuring a great wealth of local talent, is unique in that it is designed to engage the community directly, at the grassroots level -- cultivating fashion as an integral part of the Boston lifestyle.
Accessibility and diversity in programming allow the public to engage the week on many levels; experiencing a show, taking in an exhibit, participating in an educational program or joining in the festivities at a party. The week also contributes to a sense of civic pride about what the region has to offer and how it continues to evolve. You're invited to become an active participant in the local fashion community by supporting local style makers during Boston Fashion Week and throughout the rest of the year.
About The Tent at Boston Fashion Week - September 27-30, 2012
The Tent is a joint endeavor between Boston Fashion Week, Boston magazine, Mandarin Oriental, Boston, Party By Design, and The Shops at Prudential Center. A civic initiative, The Tent has been designed to provide a high caliber platform for fashion designers, industry professionals, and undiscovered talent whose work represents the New England fashion community's best talent.
The 3,000 square-foot tent structure will be raised in the existing outdoor garden space, directly connected to Mandarin Oriental, Boston and The Shops at Prudential Center. A 40-foot runway will be constructed; lighting, décor, and DJ services will be provided, with a backstage area for dressing models and prepping hair and make-up. The Tent will accommodate 300 people per show, hosting twelve shows over the course of three days, and will provide access to pre and post-events to be held at the hotel. The Tent opens on September 27 with an Opening Night Gala reception and continues through the weekend, September 28-30.
