'D:hive' helps people find places to live in downtown Detroit

Posted: Updated:
DETROIT (WJBK) -

Ask Fox 2's weather guy Alan Longstreet if he wants to live in downtown Detroit and he answers "yes, there seems like there's a lot to do here."

Reporter Alexis Wiley agrees and her proof is in the trend Wiley has noticed during her work on Fox 2's Redefining Detroit franchise; more young people from the suburbs are moving into the city.

Jeanette Pierce, the director of D:hive, says demand to live in the city right now is very high.

D:hive is an organization dedicated to helping people navigate the city.  The organization offers free tours, showcasing places to live, bars, businesses and more to make it easy for a would be renter or buyer to check out a neighborhood.

The organization also works to connect people to jobs and community organizations.  Play the video to learn more about D:hive and to check some of the cool places Longstreet is considering as a place to hang his weather maps.
