When Arnold Diaz tried asking the owner of a Queens furniture store about the many complaints against the shop, a heated exchange unfolded.

If you are a customer of Fatima Furniture & Mattress or Natural Furniture & Mattress that hasn't received a refund or your furniture order you can file a complaint with The New York City Consumer Affairs Department by calling 311 or online at www.nyc.gov/consumers

Here are some tips for consumers when purchasing furniture. Take a good look at your invoice and make sure it includes the following:

  • The delivery date
  • Business name of Furniture Store
  • Business address of Furniture Store
  • Date of the purchase
  • Total amount paid for each item
  • Total amount of money paid including a separate statement of tax
  • Any limitations on the use of credit cards must be posted in the store (no credit cards etc.)
