PLAISTOW,
N.H. (AP) — A 17-year-old New Hampshire high school student has
challenged her school dress code after the principal said her top's
cap-style sleeves violated the policy, which prohibits sleeveless
shirts.
Elizabeth Skerry of Plaistow has
started a campaign, "The Right to Bare Arms," at Timberland Regional
High School. She also took her concerns to the school board last week,
wearing the outfit.
Skerry told the Eagle Tribune
(http://bit.ly/TFKOrj) she felt victimized. Principal Don Woodworth said
the new code was intended to eliminate any questions students might
have about what was appropriate. It also prohibits exposed underwear,
see-through attire and clothing that exposes the stomach or cleavage. It
says shorts, skirts and dresses can be no shorter than mid-thigh.
A school committee is reviewing the dress code.
