BOSTON (FOX 25 / MyFoxBoston.com) A Dracut man is competing to become the new mascot for the Houston Astros.

The Astros began a contest at the beginning of September to search for a new mascot for the 2013 season, which will be their first season in the American League.

Greg Cirrone of Dracut is not only the only person competing in the contest from New England- he's the only person competing from the east coast.

Cirrone is competing against nine others from Texas and California to become one of the four finalists in the mascot competition. Voting opened on Friday and will close on Oct. 4.

In an audition tape posted on the Astros website, Cirrone comically holds up a sign that says "I can dance" before he begins to do the dance known as the "dougie."
