Detroit family giving away their house to reunite with father

Posted: Updated:
SOUTHFIELD, Mich. (MyFox Detroit) -

Elizabeth "Liz" Burgos is giving away her house before moving to Germany with her three kids to reunite with their father.

Burgos' husband was deported in 2010, although he had been living in the states since he was 7-years-old. He recently relocated to Germany through a refugee program, became a citizen, and is allowed to work.  And now he's ready to be with his family again.

A $100 in kind donation puts your name in the drawing for their house in Southwest Detroit. They bought the 1,900 square-foot house for $50,000 and have spent $30,000 in renovations.  The house was built in 1917.

The family is hoping to raise $30,000 to go towards their new life together.

A mother is pained beyond words.  Her three-year-old daughter was killed in a crash Sunday on Detroit's west side less than a block from her house.  The chaotic scene was visible from her front door.
