SALEM, N.H. (FOX 25 / MyFoxBoston.com) - A 39-year-old mother with three children in her car was arrested for drunk driving in Salem, N.H.
Police said Gina L. Suliveras, of Windham, N.H., was taken into custody Tuesday and charged with Aggravated DWI, three counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child, and Criminal Threatening. She was released on personal recognizance pending her arraignment.
Police responded to the Workout Club on Pelham Road at 7 p.m. for a report of an intoxicated woman trying to drive away with three children in the car. One of the witnesses told police the driver was refusing to give up her car keys and when he told another witness to call police, the 9-year-old was able to get the keys and asked the witness not to call police. The child said he had already called his aunt to come and get them.
When police arrived, they found the car and prevented Suliveras from leaving.
During the investigation, police said Suliveras was belligerent, fell getting out of the car and failed a field sobriety test. One of the children in the backseat also handed an officer an opened bottle of Pinot Grigio and told the officer, "I think this is why mommy is so sleepy." Suliveras was then arrested and the children, ages 4, 6 and 9, were released to a family member.
Police said Suliveras remained belligerent and told an officer she was a nurse at Lawrence General Hospital and would remember his name, and that she hoped he got shot and died. She also told the officer that if he or his wife or kids ever sought treatment at Lawrence General Hospital, she would kill him and them, as well.
A spokesman for Lawrence General Hospital did confirm to FOX 25 that Suliveras is a nurse there. The hospital has not taken any action against her.
Suliveras is due back in court at the end of the month.
