Posted: Updated:

(FOX 25 / MyFoxBoston.com) - More than two decades after the crime, the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum heist could be one step closer to being solved.

According to the Boston Herald, a Connecticut man arrested on drug charges is negotiating a plea deal. Andrew Parente, 75, is accused of dealing prescription painkillers.

Parente told the Herald federal prosecutors offered to lessen those charges if he agreed to help them solve the 1990 heist, which he has been linked to.

The details of the plea deal are not yet known.

A $5 million reward is being offered for the recovery of the art, which is valued at more than $500 million.
