Candidate Bio: John Shimkus - 15th District

John Shimkus is running for the U.S. House of Representatives in Illinois' 15th Congressional District against Democrat Angela Michael.

Shimkus is a lifelong resident of Collinsville, Illinois and is currently serving his eighth term in Congress representing the 19th district (as a result of redistricting, the 19th district is now known as the 15th district).

Shimkus is a Republican who has endorsed Mitt Romney in the 2012 presidential election.

The 15th district is one of the largest districts, covering areas of Eastern Illinois.

On the Issues

Abortion: John is an outspoken defender of the right to life, opposing abortion except in the rare case the mother's life is in danger. He has voted consistently to stop taxpayer dollars from going to Planned Parenthood to pay for abortions. Read more...
