Teen charged with sex assault at Cape Cod camp

Posted: Updated:

SANDWICH (AP) - Police have charged a 14-year-old boy who attended a YMCA summer camp in Sandwich with two counts of rape and two counts of indecent assault on a child under 14.

Police are withholding details of the alleged incident at Camp Lyndon because of the nature of the allegations and because both the defendant and the alleged victim are juveniles.

Chief Peter Wack said in an email to the Cape Cod Times (http://bit.ly/RwdBJu ) that police began their investigation in mid-September. He says YMCA of Cape Cod officials have fully cooperated.

Stacie Peugh, president and chief executive officer of YMCA Cape Cod, says no employees are facing accusations and the safety of children is the organization's highest priority.

The day camp offers swimming, boating and other outdoor activities.
