Juvenile turns self in following four robberies near BU

Posted: Updated:

BOSTON (AP) - Brookline police say a juvenile suspect in a string of armed robberies at nearby Boston University has turned himself in.

The university is offering a $10,000 reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction in the campus robberies that have students on edge.

Brookline police said the juvenile was accompanied by his attorney Thursday afternoon.

Campus police released surveillance images Wednesday showing what appeared to be three young men involved in an incident last week.

There have been four robberies in the past two weeks, the latest Tuesday.

In each case, the robber showed a handgun. At least two of the robberies are thought to be related.

The thief or thieves made off with wallets containing cash, credit and debit cards. Cell phones and a laptop also were taken.

BU President Robert Brown calls the robberies "disturbing."
