CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -
After 17 months on the job, Chicago Public Schools Chief Jean Claude Brizard is out, and Barbara Byrd-Bennet is in.
The turnover at the top was officially announced Friday morning.
Byrd-Bennet joined FOX Chicago Sunday to talk about how she'll handle the new job, and why Mayor Rahm Emanuel thinks she'll be the best fit for one of the largest school systems in the nation.
She's no stranger to CPS. In fact, the Chicago Sun-Times reports she was instrumental to ending the first Chicago Teacher's Union strike in over 25 years, and will lead the implementation of the new contract.
