DEARBORN, Mich. -- "If it was anyone else but him, someone would've been getting a ticket, at least leaving the scene," said Steve Vines.
He first showed us the damage to his Ford Escort on Thursday after he said he was sideswiped by another driver on the exit ramp at Southfield Freeway and Rotunda Drive on his way into work that morning.
However, that wasn't all. Vines told us that driver yelled at him and even left the scene of the accident, driving to the nearby Lions' practice facility instead of waiting for police at the scene.
Vines said he didn't even know at the time he had been struck by Lions' defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh.
"I was talking to 911 when he took off," Vines explained. "I'm running in between two intersections with a flashlight talking to 911 trying to give them the license plate number."
Dearborn Police are now saying no ticket for anybody. There was just minor damage to the vehicles and no injuries. "Both parties met the Dearborn Police at the Lions Training Facility where they made their accident report. Police were unable to determine fault in the accident."
So an accident is just that, an accident, but what's not clear is why Suh is not being charged with leaving the scene of that accident.
"Suh absolutely broke the law. Why he's not going to getting a ticket here is beyond me," said FOX 2 legal analyst Charlie Langton. "Why didn't they give a ticket? Was it because it's Ndamukong Suh, a prominent football player? If it is, that's favoritism. Makes no sense to me. I'd get a ticket."
Suh's Range Rover was in the shop first thing. He tweeted Friday morning, "Blessed to be at work today... #glad to have none of my taillights broken this morning."
Vines said his own tweet would read a bit differently.
"I would tweet, 'Well, it sucks to wake up and have a smashed car this morning, again."
Even so, Vines is still hoping Suh has a great game on Sunday and helps bring home a Lions victory.
"If they win, I'll celebrate with everyone else. I'm okay with that."
He's just not okay with the decision by Dearborn Police, who have yet to release the 911 calls FOX 2 requested on Thursday.
