SPRINGFIELD (AP) - Springfield officials say a car plowed into a city home, sending the driver to the hospital and leaving the house with structural damage.
Police say the car crashed through the breezeway of a home on Wait Street shortly after 1:30 a.m. Sunday and ended up in the backyard against a tree.
Fire officials say the man is being treated at Baystate Medical Center for non-life threatening injuries. His name hasn't been released.
Police haven't announced any charges.
No one in the house was injured.
Homeowner Patricia O'Neill says the crash startled her and her 93-year-old mother. She says she's grateful to be alive, because the car missed her and her mother's bedrooms by only a few feet.
