Is Your Toddler Addicted To Your iPad?

Posted: Updated:

We've all seen the lines of people around the world waiting for the release of the newest smartphone or iPad.

Another common sight is children playing with their parents smartphones, iPads or iPods in the checkout lines at retail stores.

But be careful who you let play with that technology. It seems toddlers are getting addicted.

Many toddlers have traded the pacifier for the iPad, and it's just as hard for parents to take it away.

There are online chat rooms dedicated to child iPad addiction. Parents log on looking for help and guidance.

One mother says the daily fight with her child even gets physical. Her 3-year-old son, Xavier, hits her and screams if she takes the iPad away.

Psychologists say tools like the iPad offer kids fabulous opportunities to learn, but they also deprive them of valuable social skills.

Doctors say parents need to hit the reset button, and guess what? There's an app for that – several actually.

TimeLock and Screen Time limit let you control iPad playtime. When the time's up, it turns off.

FOX's Brenda Flanagan looks at this troubling trend in this video report.

Thursday weather looks damp and stormy.  It will be mild and muggy to start with spotty showers early followed by afternoon and evening storms.  Highs in the upper 70s with winds out of the SW 5-10 mph. Some of the storms will produce locally heavy rain and gusty winds.

This system is from the same cold front that caused the midwest tornadoes. It will also usher in cooler air for the holiday weekend.
