Mom Gives Birth On Busy SEPTA Train

Posted: Updated:

SEPTA officials say a mother gave birth on a busy train in North Philadelphia Tuesday afternoon and, to top it off, she walked off the train with the baby still attached by the umbilical cord.

According to a SETPA spokeswoman, the birth happened on a northbound Broad Street Line subway train.

After giving birth, the woman got off the train at the Olney Transportation Center and approached a SEPTA Police officer.

The SEPTA spokeswoman says the officer quickly went to find the woman a blanket while passengers congratulated her.

The new mom and her baby were taken to Albert Einstein Medical Center.
