Aaron Fisher's new book, and appearances on ABC's website, Good Morning America and 20/20, did not come as a surprise to defense attorney Joe Amendola.
Fisher- known during Jerry Sandusky's child molestation trial as "victim number one"- is all over the media with details of his abuse at the hands of the former Penn State assistant football coach.
Amendola recalled for an audience of lawyers at Widener Law School Friday, the day Sandusky hired him in late 2008- when Fisher's claims of being molested, first came to light.
"That very first day that Jerry Sandusky came in, he said to me, 'this kid always seeks attention. He has to be the center of attention. He'll do anything- anything- to be the star of the show, whether it's lying, cheating or whatever he has to do."
Amendola says his client believes Fisher's claims opened a Pandora's box of accusations from other young men- several of whom knew each other- seeking attention or money.
"He's adamant about his innocence," said amendola of Sandusky. "And that's why he's claiming to be the victim of some sort of overall conspiracy." Is Sandusky delusional? "He hasn't acted like it in my contacts with him," said Amendola.
Fisher's accusations were just part of parade of victims who testified against Sandusky.
The jury believed their stories and convicted the former football legend on 45 criminal counts.
Sandusky now awaits word on which prison will house him for what amounts to a life sentence.
Amendola quoted for his audience his comments to Sandusky during a recent jailhouse visit:
"'You know, I gotta say, you said four years ago- three and a half years ago, that number one was always looking for attention.'"
