Participants Say New 'Cardio Tennis' Leads To Increase In Strength, Drop In Weight

Posted: Updated:
MALVERN, Pa. -

For many people, there's just not enough time for both a game of tennis and a vigorous cardio workout, but one group at the Great Valley Racquet Club in Malvern has found a way to get the best of both worlds.

It's all part of a coordinated effort on a crowded court with three different kinds of balls.

They call it "cardio tennis" and participants describe this new way of playing the game as "tennis on steroids."

"Cardio Tennis" includes all kinds of heart pumping drills for a workout that is just like the one you might find at a gym.

Participants say they've lost weight and gained strength since taking part in this new way of exercising.

Organizers say you don't have to be a member of the Great Valley Racquet Club to participate in cardio tennis. The exercise costs $15-20 per hour long class.

You can watch Fox 29 reporter Joyce Evans' story in the video above.
