Three Years In The Making: New Wind Turbines Installed At The Linc

Posted: Updated:
PHILADELPHIA -

The Philadelphia Eagles welcomed a new addition to Lincoln Financial Field but it had nothing to do with grass, seats or the team.

Seven wind turbines were installed Thursday morning on the North side of the stadium.

Stadium officials say the turbines, along with solar panels are part of a three-year project.

Combined with the wind and solar panels, the turbines are expected to operate about 30 percent of the stadium's energy needs.

The system is expected to run at the end of December, but stadium officials hope they can have it running by mid-December.
