Hospitals, NYBC plan for blood supply issues ahead of storm

The New York Blood Center is working with hospitals to make sure there is no disruption in the critical blood and blood product supply if a major storm hits the area next week, according to a news release.

The center is urging blood donors who have made appointment to keep them. Also, the center welcomes donors without an appointment.

NYBC is sending extra supplies are being sent to the hospitals in advance of the storm. Also, the center and hospitals are implementing contingency plans to keep the blood supply flowing during the storm, according to a news release.
