"The Red Cross is mobilizing volunteers, shelters, relief supplies and disaster vehicles to help," said Josh Lockwood, CEO, American Red Cross Greater New York Region. The Red Cross is moving disaster workers across the mid-Atlantic and Northeast into areas that weather experts predict will be affected by the storm.

The emergency services agency says it has more than 100 emergency response vehicles on alert is also working closely with government officials, as well as community partners to coordinate response efforts.

The Red Cross has information about how to get prepared for the storm, including steps for hurricane and power outage emergencies on their web site.
