Montgomery County, Pa. -

Officials in Montgomery County Sunday cautioned residents to prepare for as much as 8 inches of rain, strong winds and possibly extended power outages.

County commissioners and emergency personnel held a press conference Sunday afternoon to provide an update on their storm preparations.

County officials say they've been told the storm could bring wind speeds between 45-65 miles per hour with between 4-8 inches of rain.

As a result, the county is bracing for flooding and power outages.

The county says it doesn't want to alarm anyone, but did want to emphasize the importance that residents prepare themselves now to keep their families safe.

The county has been working for several days to prepare, coordinating with local police, fire, EMS personnel and county departments.

The county has also established a non-emergency storm hotline. Lines are scheduled to open at 7 p.m. Sunday night.
