High winds are starting to cause big problems in Atlantic City.
FOX 29's Dave Schratwieser reports that glass has blown off the building and almost hit one of our trucks. A light has also come down, along with sheets of glass that have fallen onto the boardwalk.
The fronts of Trump Plaza and Caesar's are all boarded up or the storm near ground level. No one is one the boardwalk except news crews and police, and police are urging the crews to leave.
The tide was also rising quickly around 3 p.m., even though high tide isn't until around 8 p.m.
About 85 percent of the city's roads were flooded during Monday morning's high tide.
The storm – last reported to be moving at 28 mph – is now expected to arrive between 5 and 6 p.m.
Scratwieser reported Monday afternoon from a concrete pier outside the Shops at Caesar's that waves went from 100 yards out from the boardwalk to half that distance in a matter of 20 minutes.
"This storm is moving onshore quickly," Schratwieser said. "As you can see, I'd say the waves are 8 to 10 feet high here."
Emergency managers were urging any Atlantic City residents who still needed to get out to do so during the afternoon. They'd received about 500 emergency calls by 12:30 p.m. Monday.
