PECO: Bucks, Montco Counties Hardest Hit Thus Far

Posted: Updated:
PHILADELPHIA -

As Hurricane Sandy moved closer to the area, PECO says thus far Bucks and Montgomery counties have been the hardest hit by the storm.

PECO Spokeswoman Karen Muldoon Geus joined FOX 29 during the 5 p.m. hour and reported about a thousand field personnel were out working to restore the power.

Crews were expected to be pulled for safety reasons as Hurricane Sandy approaches the area.

PECO says it opened emergency centers last week to prepare for the storm. In addition, more than 3,000 field personnel and hundreds of other employees were going to be made available once the storm moved out of the area.

PECO says about a third of typical storm damage is the result of trees that fall on power lines.
