Damage in Wareham may have been caused by microburst

Posted: Updated:

(FOX 25 / MyFoxBoston.com) - Just when we thought we were out of the woods, Sandy strikes in the Bay State again, snapping trees and bringing down more power lines.

More than 1,000 people are in the dark in Wareham Wednesday morning.

A quick moving thunderstorm associated with the remnants of Sandy moved across parts of our area around 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Wareham police and fire officials recieved dozens of calls ranging from flooded roads to live wires on houses.

NStar had restored power to nearly the entire town Tuesday before last night's storms.

FOX 25 Chief Meteorologist Kevin Lemanowicz says this could turn out to be the result of a microburst.
