DETROIT (WJBK) -- It happened a little before 7:00 a.m. Wednesday.  A 26-year-old security guard was in the parking lot of Great Lakes Dialysis on Kercheval in Detroit wrapping up his overnight shift when a group of young men came up to him.  Employee believe they were trying to rob him.  The security guard was carrying no cash and fatally shot.

"One of the workers went outside, stepped outside to do something, and discovered him lying on the ground already having been shot," said Pastor Daryl Bentley.

Employees tried to save him, but he was pronounced dead at the hospital.  The staff is so devastated, they've brought in the pastor for counseling.

"They've been there six years and incidents around the neighborhood, but nothing directly even by way of graffiti or anything directed at the center," Bentley explained.  "Praying that whoever is responsible is brought to justice."

The building is surrounded by surveillance cameras.  We're told the video has been turned over to Detroit Police.  If you have any information about the murder, give them a call.
