More AC Residents Return To Find Homes Looted

Posted: Updated:
ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. -

Jeannine Lavender had no regrets about evacuating ahead of Hurricane Sandy until she got home and found a shattered front window. Her house was in shambles and everything was turned upside down. Looters hit up her place in uptown Atlantic City while she was gone.

"My televisions are gone, computers missing, bedrooms in shambles and clothes pulled out. I'm living a nightmare right now," said Jeannine.

Many people are returning home to find their homes in the same condition.

"There's three houses that were broken into," said Angela Jones about her street. She found her house looted Wednesday. When we checked back with her Friday the only thing police recovered so far was her pink bike. Her televisions, other electronics and her daughter's laptop that has all her school work on it are still missing.

"She needs her laptop because she's a straight A student, she's junior honor society and she needs to do her homework," said Jones.

Tourists are returning to the city too. Friday the governor ordered all casinos back open.
