LOWELL (FOX 25 / MyFoxBoston.com) - A former employee of Lowell's parking-management company was indicted Wednesday on larceny charges for allegedly stealing more than $37,000 over several years from the city's parking kiosks, Middlesex District Attorney Gerry Leone has announced.

Richard Neveu, of Lowell, was indicted by a Middlesex grand jury on charges of larceny over $250 and breaking and entering into a depository. The 51-year-old Neveu was employed by Central Parking System when he allegedly stole money from the parking kiosks.

"The defendant allegedly stole thousands of dollars which belonged to taxpayers in Lowell and others visiting this city," District Attorney Leone said.  "This defendant showed a complete disregard for the job he was hired to do and violated the trust of the City of Lowell."

Neveu was fired last year after being confronted about missing deposits and allegedly signing a document agreeing to pay the city of Lowell $14,000 in restitution for money deemed missing in 2011.

An arraignment date in Middlesex Superior Court has not been set.
