SEPTA: Overnight Rain, Snow Main Concern From Nor'easter

Posted: Updated:

As a nor'easter moves through the area Wednesday, SEPTA says one of its main concerns is the mix of snow and sleet overnight, which can create the potential for ice to accumulate.

SEPTA plans to run what are called "pilot" trains on some trolley routes and the Norristown High Speed Line after Wednesday's regular service schedule to help prevent ice from accumulating on rails, overhead wires and third-rail power systems.

In addition, officials say they will monitor conditions along rail and trolley lines throughout the storm.

Workers were also scheduled to salt stations and other areas used by customers to help prevent ice and snow from accumulating.

Customers are urged to plan ahead for the Thursday morning rush hour.

You can keep an eye on the latest SEPTA alerts and schedules on the SEPTA website.
