NEWARK, Del. -

Delaware State Police say a 19-year-old woman was arrested in connection to a hit-and-run crash that killed a 52-year-old woman and injured a 67-year-old woman.

According to state police, Brenda Nazario of Bear was arrested in connection to the September 24 crash along the eastbound lanes of Corporate Boulevard in Newark.

Maria Eldreth, 52 and 67-year-old Judith Johnson were walking on Corporate Boulevard when they were struck from behind by a 2002 Honda CRV.

Both women were taken to the Christiana Hospital Trauma Center, where Johnson was treated and released with non-life threatening injuries. State police say Eldreth was admitted to the hospital and died of her injuries four days later.

State police say Nazario was driving and failed to stop after the accident. Later that day, investigators say Nazario went to the Delaware State Police Troop 2 location and told investigators she had struck an unknown object on I-95.

After questioning her, investigators say they were able to connect Nazario with the hit-and-run from earlier that day.

State police say after an investigation, Nazario was arrested.
