Report: Internet holiday sales to see 15-percent increase in 2012
BOSTON (FOX 25 / MyFoxBoston.com) With Cyber Monday nearly two weeks away, a new report suggests online retailers will rake in more revenue during the holiday season than the year before.
Net News Check released the report from Forrester Research on Thursday. The report projects 2012 holiday sales to be 15-percent higher than 2011 with retailers receiving an estimated $68 billion in online revenue.
Forrester Research says many customers will be looking for free shipping and 27-percent of those customers will be adding unplanned items to their cart in order to meet free shipping minimum totals.
Some online retailers are already rolling out their Cyber Monday and Black Friday deals. Walmart is advertising their "ultimate online specials" that include a 32" television and an iPod touch both for $179.
