Romney campaign spent $25,000 on fireworks

Posted: Updated:

BOSTON (AP) — Mitt Romney's campaign had planned an eight-minute, $25,000 fireworks show to celebrate a presidential victory that never materialized.

According to The Boston Globe, the fireworks were scheduled to be shot from a barge in Boston Harbor within sight of the Republican's election night party at the Boston Convention & Exhibition Center.

Instead, Atlas Professional Fireworks Displays unloaded the pyrotechnics from mortars on the barge and carted them back to company headquarters in Jaffrey, N.H.

Atlas president Stephen Pelkey tells the newspaper the show was designed to be "fast-paced" to cap off the evening, heavy on patriotic colors of red, white and blue explosions.
