'Sending Sunshine' helping Hurricane Sandy victims

Posted: Updated:

(FOX 25 / MyFoxBoston.com) – So many people have come together to support families impacted by Hurricane Sandy and efforts in one local town have turned into a nationwide act of kindness.

Just one week ago, hundreds of volunteers came together in Andover and started to fill an empty warehouse, donated by a local moving company to support their good intentions.

The warehouse quickly became the headquarters for "Sending Sunshine" to Sandy families.
The group has been working on filling the space and now sorting through more than 30 tons of donations – over 20,000 square feet.

Clothes, food, diapers, toiletries, you name it, they've got it. And to think this whole thing started with a little girl asking her mom how they could help, and then, it went viral.

"Sending Sunshine" plans on sending out their first shipments Wednesday. For more about their effort, visit sendingsunshine2012.org.
