Local SPCA Takes In Homeless Pets After Sandy

Posted: Updated:
DELAWARE COUNTY, Pa. -

The Delaware County SPCA is making room for dozens of homeless dogs and cats from Monmouth County, New Jersey.

That's because shelters there were overwhelmed with animals taken in because of Hurricane Sandy.

Those animals actually have owners, who needed to temporarily give up their pets while they rebuild their homes.

The Delaware County SPCA was more than happy to help them make room.

"We weren't too affected in this area, but we had the space, so we wanted to help save as many lives as possible," said the SPCA's Justina Calgiano.

Many pets at the Delaware County SPCA can be adopted for less than $10 as part of a special that lasts through the end of the month.
