Mass. Democratic chairman re-elected

Posted: Updated:

(FOX 25 / MyFoxBoston.com) — The Massachusetts Democratic State Committee has re-elected John Walsh to serve a second four-year term as state party chairman.

The decision made Wednesday in Springfield came just over a week after state residents voted to oust Republican U.S. Sen. Scott Brown and replace him with consumer advocate Elizabeth Warren, and re-elected U.S. Rep. John Tierney in the 6th congressional district, despite a strong Republican challenge.

The Democratic Party holds every constitutional office in the state.

Walsh first took the helm of the Massachusetts Democratic Party in 2007. He also served as campaign manager for Gov. Deval Patrick's 2006 campaign.

Walsh said in a statement he is "humbled by the show of support."

Walsh stopped by the FOX 25 Morning News on Thursday. Watch Shannon Mulaire's interview for more.
