Missouri man arrested in plot to shoot up 'Twilight' screening

Posted: Updated:

BOLIVAR, MO (FOX 25 / MyFoxBoston.com) A Missouri man has been charged in an alleged plot to open fire on a movie screening of "Twilight."

The News-Leader reports that Blaec Lammers, 20, of Bolivar, MO, was arraigned on charges of first degree assault, making a terroristic threat, and armed criminal action Friday.

Lammers' mother reportedly contacted police on Thursday concerned that her son bought weapons similar to those used during the mass shooting inside an Aurora, CO movie theater that killed 12 and injured at least 58 over the summer.  She was worried that he had a similar attack planned.

Police asked Lammers to visit a local police station to be interviewed. During the interview, police claim Lammers admitted to having "a lot in common" with those involved in recent shootings. He also reportedly admitted to buying tickets to a Sunday screening of the new "Twilight" movie with plans to shoot people inside the theater.

He then reportedly told police that he decided to shoot people at Walmart in his hometown because if he ran out of ammunition he "would be able to break the glass where ammunition is stored and get more."

The 20-year-old told police that he bought 400 rounds of ammunition.
