Lawrence man severely injured in possible drag racing crash

LAWRENCE (FOX 25 / MyFoxBoston.com) – A 19-year-old Lawrence man was severely injured Saturday night after striking a telephone pole on Haverhill Street following an alleged drag racing incident.

According to The Eagle Tribune, David Gomez was transported to Lawrence General Hospital after being ejected from his vehicle during the crash which occurred around 10 p.m.

Police told the newspaper that Gomez was traveling west down Haverhill Street toward Broadway before crashing into the pole and splitting the pole in two.

A witness told police that Gomez may have been drag racing with a green Honda.

Massachusetts State Police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.
