Detroit teen busted trying to sell laptop back to woman he robbed

DETROIT (WJBK) -- A Detroit teenager is behind bars after neighbors say he broke into a woman's home, stole her computer and tried to sell it back to her a few days later.

Stephanie and Michael Schmidt say the teen broke into their neighbor's home on Pembroke a few days ago. He made away with a laptop, several television sets and a few bottles of alcohol. The Schmidts helped their neighbor clean up and filed a police report. But it was a few days later when the burglar returned to the scene.

Michael says the teen offered the woman's computer back in exchange for $40. Thinking on her toes, the woman agreed to buy it back the next day and told the teen to come back for the money. When he returned, Detroit police were waiting to arrest him.

The woman's laptop was returned to her, but police say her televisions were sold and the alcohol consumed.
