by FOX 25 Meteorologist Shiri Spear:
The flakes will start flying Tuesday! I don't expect a very impressive storm, but accumulation may be just enough to slow down the drive home.
Incoming snow and rain showers are battling a dry air mass. Light precipitation was only reported sparsely this morning.
Temperatures should be mild enough through midday to prevent significant accumulation. As temperatures drop late afternoon and a few more snow flake mix in, expect minor accumulation across MA. A coating to 1" of snow is possible almost anywhere, the exception being the Cape and Islands where mainly rain will persist.
The models continue to hint at a pocket of heavier accumulation, on the order of 1"-3", in southeastern Mass, northern RI and northern CT. This would correlate with a period of moderate rain/snow mid to late afternoon. Still, temperatures will be marginal.
Icy spots will develop overnight and drivers must be cautious on untreated roadways. A few flurries will linger into Wednesday. There will be much more dry than wet times and even some breaks in the clouds!
