PRINCETON, Mass. (AP) — A Massachusetts fire chief who's been charged with stealing medicine from the town's ambulance has resigned.
Princeton Town Administrator John Lebeaux released a statement Tuesday announcing that Chief David Cobb has stepped down. Cobb, appointed in January, was the town's first full-time fire chief.
Lebeaux tells The Telegram & Gazette the town plans to move quickly to hire a replacement.
Cobb was placed on paid leave July 7 after the Board of Selectmen learned that he was facing criminal charges related to theft of drugs, including fentanyl, morphine, and Valium. He was put on unpaid leave earlier this month.
Cobb has pleaded not guilty to larceny of a drug and obtaining drugs by fraud. He is due back in court Dec. 3.
