CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

Jesse Jackson Jr. might still collect a federal pension despite resigning from Congress.

The Chicago Tribune reports Jackson could be eligible to collect the $45,000 per year pension, at age 62. However, he could lose the benefit if convicted of a crime.

The former congressman is reportedly under federal investigation for the alleged misuse of campaign funds. Jackson's whereabouts still remain unknown.

His resignation letter will be read aloud in congress when lawmakers reconvene later Tuesday in Washington.
