It has been seven weeks since we last heard from or saw the mayor. Thursday, the mayor talked about his recovery and said he is looking forward to getting back to City Hall.
The mayor went on to say he's briefed by his staff regularly. He says the hardest part for him was missing Thanksgiving at home with his family.
In October, Mayor Menino cut an Italian vacation short after developing an infection and a blood clot in his lung. While in the hospital, he developed a fracture in his back and was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes.
Menino was first elected as Boston's mayor in 1993. During his five terms in office, Menino has had multiple knee surgeries and is dealing with an ongoing battle with skin cancer.
