Victorino Reaches 3-Year, $39-Million Deal With Boston

Posted: Updated:
PHILADELPHIA -

Former Phillies centerfielder Shane Victorino agreed to a three-year deal Wednesday with the Boston Red Sox.

The deal is reportedly worth $39 million.

Victorino only hit .255 last season but still managed to get a three and a half-million-dollar annual raise.

Former Phillie and Atlanta Brave Michael Bourn is the best centerfielder still on the market.

The player Phillies fans really want is Texas free-agent outfielder Josh Hamilton, but FOX 29's Howard Eskin says, "It's not happening."

"I'm told the Phillies don't feel another left-handed hitter is a fit in their lineup," Eskin reported. "I agree. And today the Rangers got closer to a four-year deal with Hamilton."

Regarding Victorino's deal, Eskin remarked, "Are you kidding me?" before adding, "The Phils had no interest."
