Operation Santa

Posted: Updated:

As part of Operation Santa, Kris Kringle flew into New York from the North Pole on a Delta Air Lines Boeing 767 to visit 4,000 children with special needs from 350 local schools.

Each child received a goody bag filled with a coloring book, teddy bears, water bottle, crayons, candy canes, and a very special red FDNY fire helmet.

Many volunteers including from the Port Authority Police, the Sanitation Department, and the FDNY all acted as Santa's little helpers, including Fire Commissioner Sal Cassano.

The real Macy's Santa Claus hopped on board his train and sent holiday wishes to all the good boys and girls.

The program is from The Community Mayors, a nonprofit organization that remains dedicated to improving the quality of life of children with disabilities.

Operation Santa really lifts their spirits and all of those involved.
