A Long Island man is accused of stealing tens of thousands of dollars' worth in lottery tickets from a drug store where he worked, the New York State Police said.

Richard M. Nogid, 46, of Port Jefferson Station, stole scratch-off tickets from a lottery vending machine at a Rite Aid store in Shirley, police said.

He is the general manager of that store, cops said.

Nogid then scratched off the tickets and redeemed the winning ones, police said. The tickets were worth more than $25,000, police said.

He didn't try claiming any large winning tickets, police said.

Authorities charged Nogid with third-degree grand larceny, a class-D felony.

State Police and New York Lottery officials investigated the case.
