NJ Transit says it suffered $400M in damage during superstorm Sandy.

James Weinstein, executive director of NJ Transit, testified at a hearing in Washington on the storm. NJ Transit is hoping to receive aid from the federal government.

"I think we have a good case to make. Gov. Christie is down there making the case and we support that…. I believe we'll have success (based on the reactions we had yesterday in Washington.)," Weinstein told Good Day NY on Friday.

Service was disrupted for an extended period of time following the storm.

"As repairs to equipment continue, we expect to have the system fully operational no later than the end of this month."
