Part of a large tree fell onto a city truck and caused a chain reaction crash in Lawrenceville on Monday. Two men were seriously injured in the accident, which took place on Stone Mountain Street.
The impact of tree branch on the truck's cab knocked the driver unconscious. The city truck continued to move into the intersection, where it struck two other vehicles that had just been involved in a fender bender, according to Capt. Jeff Smith of the Lawrenceville Police Department.
William Sheridan said that he witnessed the accident and kept the city worker awake while they waited for emergency crews to respond.
The injured men were taken to the hospital in serious condition.
